The symposium aims to foster interdisciplinary discussions on the convergence of digital technologies, contemporary artistic practices and Mediterranean maritime imagery. It will explore how these intersections generate new perspectives, creative expression and critical inquiry. The discussions will critically engage with both the theoretical and practical aspects of how interdisciplinarity across the humanities can prompt questions about current understanding(s) of identity in the age of digital hybridity.
The speakers explore issues of authorship, engagement with historical visual imagery—such as ship graffiti—and the evolving role of art practice in a digitally mediated world, among others.
I WILL FOLLOW THE SHIP is the Malta Pavilion 2024 presented at the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, with artist Matthew Attard, and co-curated by Elyse Tonna and Sara Dolfi Agostini. It is commissioned by Arts Council Malta.
The Public Programme for I WILL FOLLOW THE SHIP is supported by Bank of Valletta
