Symphony in Watercolor: Rocco Pisto opens with a free public reception on January 9, 5 - 8 pm. The exhibition celebrates an artist who has spent decades transforming the abstract elements of nature into vibrant, expressive works. Since the 1970s, Rocco Pisto has embraced the spontaneous, unpredictable beauty of water-based media, allowing color, movement, and intuition to shape each piece. Each work is built through layered washes that create depth and harmony. The brush moves with both intention and openness, responding to the magic of the unexpected. Guided by a creative instinct, Pisto’s paintings invite viewers into a world where structure and improvisation meet, offering a visual symphony that feels both alive and effortlessly free.
Rocco Pisto earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1974 with post-baccalaureate and Master of Fine Art studies at Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University. Rocco is President Emeritus of the Michigan Watercolor Society (MWCS) and holds a Signature Membership and Great Lakes Fellow designation with MWCS as well as memberships in the National Watercolor Society, International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA), and the Brighton Art Guild.
Rocco will be leading the two-day workshop Creating Spontaneous Watercolor with Abstract Elements and Techniques during his solo exhibition at the Art House.
