About this Event
Join us in Sydney on Monday, 4 November, for a panel discussion on the 2024 US election, featuring American political commentator . John will be joined by, Chief Executive of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia, for a discussion moderated by CIS Executive Director .
The US is bitterly divided and frighteningly polarised. Public confidence in virtually every major American institution -- from religion and the courts to media and the military -- has fallen. At the same time, the US is a trendsetter in energy, technology, artificial intelligence and biotechnology. It remains militarily the world’s most powerful nation (though China is catching up).
Who is likely to win on November 5? What are the strengths and weaknesses of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, and their running mates? How will Democrats or Republicans govern the US when it is more divided than it has been since the late 1960s? What is the likely trajectory for American foreign policy?
