Swung/TX is a WCS social focused on community, learning as much as we can about the dance, and moving forward. This social is designed for EVERYONE, from beginners first starting out to the champions in our scene. Our goal is to be a part of helping the Austin WCS scene regroup after COVID-19 and make it even better than it was before.We made it two years y'all! It's the second anniversary of our lovely little social we made.
We are pleased to announce both Thomas Carter and Rachel shook to be our featured instructors this month!
Thomas Carter is an accomplished West Coast Swing dancer, competing nationally at the Champion/All-Star level. He discovered his passion for west coast swing in college and was drawn to its complexity and versatility. With over 10 years of of West Coast Swing under his belt, Thomas continues to push himself to improve and inspire others with his love of dance.
Rachel Shook is a home-town hero here in Austin, regarded nationwide as one of the top follows in her field. In addition to competing at the highest level, she is also one of the hosts of Austin Westie Academy, a local organization dedicated to teach West Coast Swing here in the Austin area! She's an invaluable part of our community here and we are so honored to have her with us!
Becca Yasskin will be teaching an intro to West Coast Swing workshop for all of your friends who want to join our crazy dance and don't know where to start! This will be happening from 8:30 pm-9:30 pm.
