About this Event
The Gary Matsuura Quartet offers a musical experience of "Swingin' Beauty," performing repertoire from the "Great American Song Book," Brazilian Jazz, Jazz Standards, and original compositions by Gary Matsuura that draw inspiration from the styles mentioned above, with influences from J. S. Bach and Gary's family experiences.
The sound of the Gary Matsuura Quartet is fresh with the mellifluous sound of two saxophones, with Gary playing soprano and alto saxophones and flute, with Dan St. Marseille on tenor saxophone, in counterpoint with the mellow sonorities of the jazz guitar by Ryan Navales and the harmonic foundation of the acoustic bass of Freddy Marcus Uyehara.
Works by George Gershwin, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Gary Matsuura, and others.
