Have you ever seen a swimming World Record get absolutely pummelled? Well, you probably won’t see it at Cuppers but it should be a good laugh anyway. Oxford University Swimming Club are back in business and on the hunt to find the College most worthy to treasure the coveted Swimathon trophy for 2024.OVERVIEW:
Each team of (maximum) 8 swimmers will race as a relay and the team that swims the most lengths of Rosenblatt Pool in 30 minutes will be the winner.
BONUS (& PENALTY) LAPS:
• The team with the most creative costumes will gain an extra 4 lengths onto their total. The full team must be wearing a costume for bonus points to be received.
• The team with the best song and dance intro (20 seconds max) will win 4 lengths.
• Teams must nominate one person to do a seal impression. The best impression will win 4 lengths.
• Each additional team collaboration will lose you 2 lengths. For example, SEH x LMH = -2 lengths. SEH x LMH x Queen’s = -4 lengths.
ADDITIONAL RULES:
• Only 1 Blues swimmer is allowed per team.
• Every swimmer in the team must have raced only once before team members are permitted to swim their second leg and so forth. Teams may choose to all swim 25 or 50 metres at a time.
• The competing swimmer must touch the wall before the next swimmer may begin their leg.
THE PRIZE & entry details:
Entry is £5 per team. Teams of less that 8 are also welcome to enter and OUSC can pair you with other smaller teams if requested. The proceedings will cover the cost of engraving your sweet College’s name on the blessed OUSC Cuppers Swimathon trophy and the surplus will be donated to a charity of the winning team’s choice.
The winning team will also receive the fittest certificate they’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing signed by OUSC to confirm your College as the greatest College team to grace The Fortress in 2024 – now you think of it, your College bar wall is looking a bit bare, isn’t it?

Registration deadline is Wednesday 24 April (1st week). Specific details about the event timings will be sent to registered teams.
