An evening event – café-bar open from 7.30pmFREE Community Talk and Swiftwatch from 8.30pm
Gates close at 10pm
The Swifts will hopefully oblige by being around throughout the evening, with a supporting cast of Swallows and House Martins!
Coldharbour Mill hosts the largest colony of breeding Swifts in the area. Come and learn more about these iconic summer visitors, enjoy an evening watching and listening to these remarkable aerial creatures which return from their wintering grounds in southern Africa to breed at Coldharbour Mill during May, June and July. This is the third year that Coldharbour Mill has put on this popular evening event during Swift Awareness Week in collaboration with Uffculme Green Team’s Wildlife Group and Uffculme Swifts. There will be a talk by a local Swift expert and champion, a chance ask questions and find out how we can all do something to protect these birds – now on the ‘red-list’ of highest conservation concern.
Free admission and there is no need to book. This is a static event so is suitable for all. Space for parking in Coldharbour Mill car park and some chairs will be provided but bring your own if you can. We’ll be sitting outdoors. Enjoy a drink and snack from the Grist Mill café-bar. Toilet available. Gates will be locked at 10pm latest.
