Step into the roaring twenties at the Swenson House with our Prohibition Era-themed Murder Mystery Dinner! Fully interactive you and your friends are having dinner at a speakeasy in style - and apparently murder is very in this season. By the end of the night three people will be killed - and you will need to keep your wits about you as you work to solve the murders and if you're lucky stay alive long enough to enjoy dessert! Come in your favorite 1920's attire and dress to impress.
The Skinny:
PC (Playing Character) Tickets: We have up to 15 male and 15 female Playing Character Tickets. Please select the ticket that appeals most to you. Upon check-in you will be given a character sheet with a brief biography prompts and a summary of your relationship with other characters in the room. You’ll also receive a wild card prompt you could choose to play during the evening. As this is an interactive show you must read your biography keep certain information to yourself and share it when prompted throughout the evening - and interact and have fun! If your character is killed you will act out your death and then receive a "Ghost" nametag to wear for the rest of the evening after we have collected evidence from your body of course. Each Playing Character will receive 2-3 Action Cards throughout the night.
NPC (Non-Playing Character) Tickets: As we understand that everyone has varying degrees of comfort with playing parts and not everyone wants to play a character we do have a few NPC Tickets available. If you wish to be a guest at the dinner party only and still interact and try to solve the mystery please purchase a NPC Ticket. There is no cost difference in the two tickets.
Food and Drink: Dinner will be included in your ticket price: Grilled chicken breasts topped with sautéed mushrooms and spinach in an asiago cream sauce served with steamed vegetables garlic mashed potatoes and yeast rolls. Dessert is homemade blackberry peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and coffee. Ice Tea and Water are complimentary. If you are gluten-free please let us know ahead of time and we will arrange for gluten-free substitutions. Please notify staff of any food allergies before the event.
A Beer or Wine Ticket is available for advance purchase only. One ticket is good for 2 glasses of wine or two beers 2 drinks max per person. As alcohol will be served all guests purchasing a Beer or Wine Ticket must be at least 21 years old AND bring a valid state license or ID. Failure to bring ID to dinner will result in forfeiture of your drink ticket.
Whodunnit: Everyone who attends will get to cast their vote for whom they believe is the killer. Awards will be given for Closest Guess Best Actor Best Actress and since three people will die a prize for Best Death Scene will be given as well.
Helpful Tidbits: Your Host will be in character throughout the night but will also provide direction and clues. Swenson House Trustees and volunteers will also be assisting through the house and are available if you have questions or need assistance. The historic Swenson House will also be open for viewing (no food or drink upstairs please). This event does contain some adult themes as alcohol affairs and murder are referenced. Minors ages 16+ can come with an accompanying ticket-purchasing parent.
