💃💗🕺Join our new dance event in the beautiful Karuna Studio in Northampton. SweetSpot is an Ecstatic Dance that is aiming to create balance of live, organic music together with electronic beats. The night will start with live music by Stephen Katz and his cello. Patrick Crowley will lead a contact improvisation inspired warm-up to get us connected to our bodies and to each other. The live music will organically flow into an ecstatic dance journey with DJ Luminus.DJ Luminus has been playing mostly in the Boston area (monthly Vortex Ecstatic Dances) and this is an opportunity to come and dance to his music in the Happy Valley. Stephen Katz is a beloved musician in our dance community. The New York Times wrote, "With a bow and fingers as light as feathers Stephen Katz makes a cello bring out meanings you might not have suspected were there." Stephen plays regularly at New England dance jams, has collaborated and performed with Andrew Harwood, Chris Aiken, members of Pilobolus and Beverly Blossom dance companies, and has been a Visiting Artist at Amherst College. He has performed his compositions at Carnegie (Weill) Recital Hall and toured internationally as a soloist, and with the Paul Winter Consort, Rachael Sage, and the Essex String Quartet. He has been featured on Performance Today/APM national broadcasts, and is a NEA grant recipient.
There will be a cozy cuddle space, intimate lights, and more.

🌿 Our Covid & health policy: if you have any flu like symptoms or test positive for Covid please stay home. Testing for Covid before the event is encouraged, but not required. Anyone is welcome to wear a mask during the dance or use our "dance alone" wrist band available at the front desk. Thank you for your cooperation .
