Winchester Swing Dance is hosting a swing dance lesson from 7:00 - 7:30 pm, followed by open social dancing from 7:30 - 9:00 pm.
The lesson will be geared toward beginners. For folks who have been dancing a while or who already know some basic moves, we will try to add a new move to help you progress and keep things interesting, if there's time.
The social dancing portion is unstructured. We will play a variety of swing music that you can dance to (old and new music).
The lesson and social dancing will be held in the Collaboratory, in Shenandoah University's Hazel Pruitt Armory (also known as the HIVE). This building has large windows. It is the first building to the left of the main campus entrance.
Parking is available on site. 608 Millwood Ave, Winchester, VA.
Our building is next to the business building. You can park in that lot as well.
This event is open to SU students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public (e.g., Winchester community). Adults 18 years or older.
For SU students, SOME of our events count for BTC credit. Please check the BTC events page. If this is a BTC event, you must attend and participate in the lesson, then stay until 8 pm. Check in and out with the QR code at the event.
No experience and no partner necessary! Come learn something new and have fun while doing it!

Entry Fees:
SU students/faculty/staff = Free (must show school ID)
General Public = $10 (cash or Venmo only)
All fees go toward the room rental, water, food, and vendors/bands for future dance events.

At your first lesson, there will be a waiver to sign, so please come early to get checked in and settled. (After that, we'll keep a record and just check the waiver record each time you attend.)
It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes, such as sneakers or flats, or dance shoes if you have them.
