Come to the Montauk Library on Wednesday, September 25 at 6 pm when Melodie Assaraff - a.k.a. Chef Mel - presents her new cookbook Sweet Treats – From Brownies to Brioches. Chef Mel will discuss her knowledge of pastry savoir faire, development of her baking kits, and the secrets of professional chefs…plus, she will demonstrate how to make perfect crepes!
Courtesy of the Friends of the Montauk Library copies of Sweet Treats – From Brownies to Brioches will be available for purchase after the presentation for a donation.
Author Bio:
After graduating from college and earning her pastry diploma, Chef Mel went to Paris to train with some of France’s best pastry chefs including Pierre Hermé, François Payard, and Laurent Duchêne. When she opened her own bakery in Paris at the age of twenty-six, she began making great pastries for her customers as well as creating memorable culinary art for special events, such as the rainbow cake and the first-ever edible cupcake dress for the Salon du Chocolat. She appeared on Top Chef France, M6, TF1, 100% Mag, and has been profiled in hundreds of magazines and newspapers. She is a two-time winner of the Food Network’s Chopped.
