A chocolate mill opened along the Neponset River inthe late 1700s, setting the stage for New England’s
enduring love affair with sweets. Over the following
centuries, the region has become home to an
extraordinary variety of baked, fried, dipped,
sugared, and frozen confections. Local Brighton
author Susan Mara Bregman will share stories from
her latest book, New England Sweets: Doughnuts,
Bonbons, and Whoopie Pies, about this sugary legacy
– from Necco Wafers to whoopie pies.
Susan is also the author of three previous books for
Arcadia Publishing; and you can expect to sample
some appropriate refreshments at this event......
