The Sweet Old Souls began as a fireside serenade. Often it was just Susanna and James performing for an audience of one, Naga the dog. Eventually they played a few shows in California and Oregon, and then put together a truly soul-warming album, “Go to Town,” which features 19th century cowboy songs, 1920s-50s country and jazz, and even a traditional Klezmer tune.A hallmark aspect of the music is its Carter-style harmonies,
constantly intertwining over an old Harmony Arch-Top Guitar and an even older Martin Soprano Ukulele. The music is sweet, the songs are old, and the souls of the players are timeless.
