Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies? Tessy's Sweet Tooth is here to help! In this 2.5-hour class, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided at class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
We’ll be enjoying our Sweet Holiday favorites for a 2.5 hours of cookie decorating ! – “Yule” love this class!
You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.
About this Class
This class is for the beginner cookier, for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about, or for someone who just wants a few hours of fun! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We’ll be decorating a set of 6 Swee Holiday themed cookies - prepare for a “gourd” time with your pumpkin spice and everything nice!
We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! We prep everything right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!
Your class ticket also includes a one of several scrumptious drinks selected from the menu of our host, Active Passion Coffee Shop. You can even come early and enjoy a bite to eat and your drink before class, as well as purchase additional drinks (because I know you'll want another) during class.
This class is on December 1st and starts at 1:00pm sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer questions along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, your significant other, coworkers, or bring the family - we have seating for up to 12 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
This class is good for ages 8 and up, but anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. But if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home you can purchase an add-on cookie kit (more on that below) for them to enjoy. The kits will have everything you need to create the cookies again at home with the kiddos, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!
The class will be held at Active Passion Coffee Shop in HOUSTON, TX, located at 803 Usener St in the Houston Heights. Parking is super easy - theres a lot right out front and a few spaces on the side of the building.
Things to Bring
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
· Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
· Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
· Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
· Bring a mask if you’d like! Masks are not required, but you do you.... if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!
· Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
DIY / Add-On Kits
Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class instructions so you can follow our step-by-step processfrom home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or months. Freezing cookies and icing keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
Allergen Disclaimer
Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: sugar, butter, vanilla extract, almond extract, egg, flour
Please consider your allergies before registering.
Class Cancelation Policy
Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.
Classes with attendance below 4 will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance and is at risk of being cancelled 5 days before the event, so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.
Cancellation & Refund Policy for Classes if You Can't Make it:
We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class with a full refund (less Eventbrite fees) or a credit toward a future class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). If you need to cancel less than 7 days prior to the class, we won't be able to give you a credit or refund, but you can arrange to pick up your supplies during class time (or from my home at a later date) and "do it yourself" with the powerpoint we will send out after class.
If we do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, we won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit regardless of the reason.
Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund LESS the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
About Tessy's Sweet Tooth
Who doesn’t love going out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Tessy's Sweet Tooth classes are all about!
These classes are based in Houston and the surrounding area and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.
A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since my first grandchild was born and decided to make it a business when I retired from corporate life in 2020 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are weddings and baby showers – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to follow me on social media so you can get in on the cookie action!
