To protect a wetland habitat while creating and improving the overall park experience and health and education of the Sunbury community with providing information and tools to become good stewards of their environment.The program provides an annual monthly stewardship event for youth and adult participation at the Sunbury Wetland Ecological Educational Park - S.W.E.E.P.
The 2024 S.W.E.E.P. program is funded by the Charles and Betty Degenstein Foundation.
Volunteer Cleanup begins at 9am.
Are you in need of community service hours? If so, come join us.
The public is invited to come meet the volunteers, tour the property, or help get the property ready for public use.
We will be conducting litter pickup and light maintenance of trails, trimming trees, and piling debris for the Sunbury DPW to remove later to make mulch out of.
You may bring your own equipment to use with the cleanup. Equipment that is useful are gloves, W**d whacker, rake, shovel and other yard maintenance tools. The city will take care of the removal of all trash and debris gathered from the site.
**We are looking for:
People who specialize in tree trimming/cutting services and have their own equipment. People that are able to lift or drag the cut debris to pile elsewhere. People to walk the property to gather trash and bag it up.
The property is not yet ADA accessible and there are no public restrooms on site. All volunteers will sign a volunteer waiver form before beginning to help.
Please come prepared and dressed accordingly. Pants, long sleeve shirt, closed toe shoes, work gloves, eye protection and so forth.
Please stay home if you are sick or not feel well.
Chainsaws and other power tool equipment may be in use at the property. Different forms of plant poison and insects are on site.
Please be aware of your surroundings and stay safe. Light lunch
will be provided to the volunteers.

By your use of this facilty/are.a, you KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown. Further, you hereby willingly agree to comply with all stated rules relative to this area.
Therefore, by and through your presence in this area, YOU HEREBY RELEASE, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS THE OWNERS AND OPERATORS HEREOF TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Photographers/videographers will be on location for the event.
Attending The SWEEP Stewardship Program constitutes your acceptance that your image could be captured and may be used in any of our media without compensation, rights or further consent as we see fit
