About this Event
Join us for an informational overview on the SWaM Certification process available to eligible small, women-, and minority-owned businesses who wish to participate in the SWaM Procurement initiative provided by Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity and a brief overview of the VDOT Contractor Prequalification requirements.
SWaM (Small, Women, and Minority Owned Firms) certification is one of the most powerful business tools you can use to grow your sales among state agencies, public colleges and universities, local municipalities, and private sector firms that utilize the SWaM database. Last year, the Commonwealth of Virginia spent more than $6 Billion on goods and services.
Presented by Angela Barber, Business Services Manager – Hampton Roads/Eastern Shore
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification program is a Federal program. The purpose is to increase the participation of certified DBEs in projects funded by the US Department of Transportation and other federal sectors. Projects typically include heavy construction, such as building and designing roads, bridges, railroads, ports, and airports.
Presented by Nina Britton, DBE & Transportation Outreach Specialist – Hampton Roads Region
VDOT's Prequalification Process is designed to assure the Contractor’s ability to perform work with attention to quality and safety, including experience in similar work, as well as the sufficiency of equipment to accomplish the work.
