Swadlincote Town Hall, also known as Swadlincote Market Hall, was built in 1861 in the center of Swadlincote, England at a cost of £1,179. The building was constructed with money raised by public subscription and is located in the middle of the town's pedestrianized area.
The building has a motto, "Time the Avenger", below the clock face, which was included at the request of Sir Henry Des Voeux and his wife Sophia. Des Voeux was involved in a lawsuit at the time and insisted that time would prove him right. The building has also been the inspiration for songs, including "Time the Avenger" by the Pretenders in 1984.
The town hall has undergone several changes over the years, including:
