Sydney based psychedelic post rock quartet Svntax Error return to the Factory Theatre for the first time since touring with Swiss post rock legends Hubris in November last year. They will be playing two massive theremin fuelled sets, featuring a swathe of brand new tracks, amongst many old favourites.Special guests Recalibrate open the night in style with their weirdly infectious dub/prog rock. Recalibrate combine tight riffs with dubby sounds, inventive songwriting and unconventional rhythms, all delivered with big smiles. A sweet bundle packed by musicians from Hinterlandt, Meniscus, Serious Beak, Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes, Snob Club and all sorts of other proggy bands.
Sydney guitar and theremin four piece Svntax Error might strike some as post-rock, others as psychedelic and still others as the last outpost of a darker kind of Prog. This all-of-the-above comes from each member bringing their own unique sensibility to the music. Most of their pieces are born out of improvising and letting those disparate influences create friction against each other, which leads to either harsh combustion or new and strange mutations. The music blurs spontaneity with composition, melody with noise, chaos with structure, light with shade. Svntax Error are always an immersive experience.
Taking a break from writing their upcoming third album, in the past year Svntax Error toured the east coast with Japanese post rock legends MONO and Swiss band Hubris, and performed at the epic Dunk! Festival in Belgium with a side show in London, and released their second album 'The Vanishing Existence’ to critical acclaim.
