Myanmar Earthquake Relief Fundraiser
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on March 24, 2025, affecting 17 million people and causing widespread devastation. Thousands have been reported dead or injured, with the death toll continuing to rise as rescue operations persist. The destruction of buildings, roads, and utilities has severely hindered relief efforts. Many remote villages remain inaccessible due to damaged infrastructure, making aid delivery extremely difficult.
How Can You Donate to the Myanmar Earthquake Relief Fund?
We, the Silicon Valley Lions Club and Bair Island Cyber Lions Club, are collecting donations and hosting a fundraising event featuring Burmese cuisine. For $35, attendees can enjoy a variety of authentic Burmese dishes, including:
BBQ Chicken
Tea Leaf Salad with Rice
Burmese Fish Chowder Soup
Coconut Noodle Soup
Garlic Noodle
And many more traditional dishes and desserts …

How Will the Funds Be Used?
Due to restrictions imposed by the Myanmar military junta, international aid and media coverage inside Myanmar remain extremely limited. Currently, local volunteer rescue teams are leading the relief efforts. Additionally, local businesses, such as electronics stores, are providing free phone charging services due to electricity shortages.
100% of the funds raised at this event will go directly to these rescue teams and volunteers assisting victims in the hardest-hit regions, including Mandalay, Sagaing, and Shan State.
How Can You Track the Fundraising Progress?
All donated funds will be transparently distributed to the local rescue teams. To ensure accountability, we will invite a spokesperson from the rescue teams to provide updates, including photo evidence and reports via social media. Additionally, we plan to organize a Zoom sessionwhere supporters can hear firsthand from survivors and rescuers.
What Role Do Local Communities Play in Recovery Efforts?
Community support is crucial. The most impactful ways to help include:

✅ Engaging the Burmese-American Community– Many U.S. cities have Burmese diaspora communities that can help connect and support aid efforts.
✅ Medical & Engineering Assistance – While international volunteers face restrictions from Myanmar’s military-led government, skilled professionals can still contribute indirectly by supporting relief organizations.
