Relationship Centered Training: Maximize Connection with New Perspectives
It seems a simple goal: an enjoyable, mutually rewarding relationship with dogs. But like the proverbial brass ring, this kind of dog/human relationship can seem out of reach. No matter how many training books you read, no matter how many classes you attend, no matter which equipment and techniques you try, you find yourself still confused, even frustrated with a dog. In a forest of information, it’s hard to find the path that will lead to better relationships.
This RCT workshop presented by Suzanne Clothier offers a new framework for thinking about our relationships, along with the observation skills that will help you to better dog/human relationships. As always, Suzanne’s work focuses on keeping the relationship central, respecting the individual dog and human, and aiming for a mutually satisfying connection.
Using selected case studies along with interactive exercises, Suzanne will help fine-tune your inner trainer to help you find the best way to align with your dog while minimizing conflict and maximizing connection.
• Relationship Centered Training – what is it? Why does it matter?
• Shared perspectives – empathy & understanding & the training game Fruits & Veggies
• Observation skills– really seeing the dog and handler in detailed ways
• The Elemental Questions – questions and answers that reveal the dog as an individual
• The Think & Learn Zone – arousal, Goldilocks and “sticky” dogs
At the end of the day, whether it was spent chasing titles or just chasing bunnies in their sleep, what we have with our dogs is what matters most. Suzanne’s compassionate and holistic approach to dogs and their people offers a new perspective for deeper connections and greater joy.
Join us for a fascinating day of learning from an internationally respected trainer. Suzanne’s work is grounded in science balanced with heart and humor.

If Goldilocks Was A Dog Trainer: Helping Dogs Find “Just Right”
The wonderful moment in a life shared with dogs occur when we can see that things are “just right” for our dog. Like Goldilocks sliding into a bed that’s not too soft, not too hard, we are glad when we see our dogs are enjoying life, able to learn, comfortable in the moment, and connected with us.
But those “just right” moments can be hard to find at times.
Do we need different training equipment? Better treats? A new instructor? Should we train more, or maybe less? Why is our dog still struggling even after so many classes? Will she grow out of it, or do we have a problem that needs help? Is it something we’re doing?
What we all want to know is how to help our dogs when things are not “just right.”
Suzanne Clothier’s Relationship Centered Training approach has helped dogs and handlers around the world with her humane and effective techniques. With her guidance, you will learn to channel your inner Goldilocks to learn what is too much or too little, what it look and feels like when things are “just right.”
Whether you’ve got a loony Lucy, a concerned Charlie, or a reactive Rex, this workshop is for you. Whatever your experience – first time owner or long-time professional - Suzanne will give provide new ways to observe and assess, as well as sensible solutions and practical information to help you and your dog create more of the “just right” moments.
Suzanne’s co-instructors will be the selected demo dogs. Depending on the dogs, we’ll be diving into:
• The Think & Learn Zone
• Thrills or Chills? Helping Shy, Fearful, Anxious or Reactive Dogs
• Is It Me? Handler Habits & Communication
• Safety First!
• Triggers & Thresholds
Join us for a fascinating day of learning from an internationally respected trainer. Suzanne’s work is grounded in science balanced with heart and humor. (We promise there will be no porridge, hot or cold or otherwise. Also, no bears.)
