Sustainable Periods Workshop - Queenstown

Ever wondered how to make your periods more sustainable?

Join Sofia and Charlotte for an interactive community workshop to learn how to manage your periods and menstrual cycle sustainably for greater wellbeing of yourself and the planet.
We’ll be diving into eco-friendly menstrual practices and exploring how to approach your menstrual cycle with a holistic mindset. Because managing our periods more sustainably is not only good for the earth, it’s also better for our bodies!
When we’re respecting our bodies, each other, and the planet, we’re creating a world where everyone can thrive. Currently, the way we manage our menstrual cycles is rarely sustainable because of the waste that is created by standard period products. It has been estimated that an average woman disposes approximately 150 kilograms of tampons, pads, and applicators in her lifetime, which ends up in landfills and waterways. Many conventional products also contain plastic and chemicals that are harmful for us as well as the planet. But it’s also unsustainable because we often work against our bodies' natural rhythms - which is like working against the cycles of our planet itself.
Therefore, we’ll start this workshop by learning about the ‘Inner Seasons’ of your menstrual cycle and how the phases of our cycle mirror those of the earth’s seasons – our bodies literally are the earth! When we learn to honour our cycles in the same way we honour the cycles of the earth, we can manage our energy more sustainably over the course of our whole cycle and have sustained energy for positive action that impacts our world positively.
Next, we’ll dive into sustainable period products, and walk you through some amazing options that can improve both your wellbeing (who doesn’t want less cramps!) and that of the planet by reducing waste and toxins. We’ll chat about the perks of reusable menstrual products, uncover the hidden toxins in disposable ones, and empower you with the knowledge to make informed choices. Think menstrual cups, reusable period undies, and other sustainable options (yes, we’ve got samples!). Plus, enjoy some awesome giveaways.
The workshop is followed by time to connect to your local eco-conscious community over some cycle-supporting ‘inner seasons’ tea. Our goal is to raise awareness and normalize the use of reusable menstrual items. We believe that you’ll leave feeling confident, informed, and ready to make choices that honor both your body and the planet. Come hang out with us, ask all your questions, and let’s break the period taboo together!
