Join us for a hands-on Sustainable Landscape Design Workshop Series in Benicia! Unleash your creativity and learn how to create a beautiful landscape, garden, or yard that thrives even in drought conditions. Heath Griffith from Grow with the Flow will guide you through the process of assessing a landscape, creating a design, and implementing that design to create a green space that is not only stunning but also sustainable.
During this in-person workshop series, you'll have the opportunity to learn how to choose the best plants for your landscape, what plants are good for water conservation, principles of sustainable permaculture design, and how to make your design come to life! Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting to get your hands dirty, this workshop series is perfect for anyone interested in creating and maintaining a beautiful, water-wise, sustainable landscape.
Schedule:
Workshop #1: Sat, Jan 18, 10:00 am-1:00 pm. Learn the basics of permaculture design and how to "read" a landscape.
Workshop #2, Sat, Feb 22, 10:00 am-1:00 pm: Together, we will visit a site in Benicia and Heath will walk us through a site assessment. This will include creating a basic site map, protracted and thoughtful observation, identifying on-site resources, and using permaculture principles to address potential challenges and find solutions.
Workshop #3, Sat, March 1, 10:00-2:00 pm: We will work together to create a sustainable landscape design for the site in Benicia. There will also be time to apply these principles to your yard .

*Participants are encouraged to bring paper and something to write with if they wish to take notes; materials needed for specific activities will be provided. For the on-site assessment (second workshop), please wear clothing and shoes appropriate for the weather, and bring water and sunscreen, as we will be outside for the duration of the workshop.

Heath Griffith's Bio:
Heath received their Permaculture Design Certificate with Vital Cycles Permaculture, through a course sponsored by Sustainable Solano. Since then, they have worked with Soilogical BioSolutions and Designs, become a Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper, and earned a nationally recognized certificate in Water Harvesting. Heath is driven by a deep passion for reconnecting humans with the landscapes that live and breathe all around us, beginning with water harvesting and sustainable water use.
