About this Event
Curious about eco-friendly fashion but not sure where to start? Join us for a down-to-earth conversation with local sustainability activist Jennifer Moore (Project Upcycle, PortSwap, Recovergirl!).
Jennifer will be chatting about all things sustainable style, from how Project Upcycle empowers emerging designers to create magic from recycled materials, to tips for incorporating eco-conscious pieces into your own wardrobe.
Plus! Meet two of the WINNING DESIGNERS from Project Upcycle 2023, Cali McDonald and Daphne Michelle, and get a firsthand look at their incredible work.
This is your chance to ask questions, share ideas, and get inspired to dress with a conscience. It's gonna be a fun and informative night – see you there!
Open to ages 12 and up (under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian)
About Jennifer Moore:
Jennifer Moore is the Founder and Co-creator of Project Upcycle, a sustainable fashion competition for emerging designers from around New England, and PortSwap, the popular clothing swap that is now a City of Portsmouth event with over 750 people attending in 2023. In 2024, Jennifer started a textile makerspace in Kittery, Maine, called The Sewing Room.
Over the years, Jennifer has been a blogger, editor, and magazine contributor on the issue of sustainable style. In 2023, she took her message to the Portsmouth Music Hall stage with a TEDx Talk promoting the #secondhandfirst movement. Jennifer goes by RECOVERGIRL online, a play on the brand name Covergirl, but with "RE" added at the beginning to bring to mind reduce, reuse, and recycle.
