Did you know that your great work is already contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals? These are a blueprint for a sustainable, equitable and prosperous world for all. The SDGs are the first global framework to provide a holistic approach to sustainability that integrates society, nature and the economy in a global effort to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to experience wellbeing and justice. While developed on an international scale, and targeted at a national level, the SDGs will be implemented at the local level and have enormous relevance for grassroots and community based organisations. This training session will introduce you to the UN SDGs and provide you with a holistic overview and understanding of this global framework that has dominated international sustainability discussions and actions since 2015. You will have the opportunity to identify which of the 17 goals most relate to you organisation and the work you do, and will be given a chance to consider how you can relate the work you are already doing to the SDGs. This could open possibilities for more informed methods of reporting, and allow you to connect to this global framework to help improve how you communicate the aims and aspirations of your organisation to the public, government and potential funders. This will be a fun and interactive session and everyone is welcome!
Presented by Dr Sam Gardyne, School of People, Environment and Planning, Massey University.
