Join us Friday, June 28th from 5-8pm for the Opening Reception of Susan Puelz: Solo with the front window feature Patty Scarborough: Earth Sense."My intention with these eleven new watercolor/pastel paintings was not to overwork or overthink them but to react to each subject whether it be a golf course, an old black and white magazine photo of a river, a favorite painting by Wolf Kahn, or my neighbors back yard. While I had just three months to complete these paintings all are fully realized. There is more focus on skies which are simplified, atmospheric, and softer in color. Focus and flow are also reflected in the water. Buildings integrate with the landscape and are more "cozy" as they tie into the landscape with line work and contrasting colors. Not over-thought or overworked. While the 2024 paintings fulfill the practice of finding beauty, but not boring, in the landscape that surrounds us, the 2018-2021 still life paintings focus on creating beauty from simple objects found in my home and arranged on my studio tables with the added beauty of flowers purchased at Trader Joes. These still-life paintings harken back to art school where I built compositions from drab, simple objects using my imagination, and by weaving paint and pastels on watercolor paper gave them life." - Susan Puelz
