About this Event

Silence Kills Presents Surviving Through the Arts: Breaking the Curse of Generational Trauma

Come join us at Busboys and Poets for an empowering event focused on healing through artistic expression. Through a panel, workshop, poetry, and music we will explore ways to break free from the cycle of generational trauma. Let's come together to support each other and find strength in our shared stories. Don't miss this opportunity to connect, heal, and thrive through the power of the arts!

Our panel will feature various mental health and wellness experts, and Persons with Lived Experiences (PWLE) as they discuss the intersection of trauma and how it lives throughout generations. We will have a workshop and raffle following the panel. This installation of STTA series will culminate with networking, an open mic and our featured artist: Amuche The Poet.

Amuche The Poet is an active DC Based writer, performance artist, host, event curator, educator, teaching artist and figure model in the Washington, D.C metropolitan area. She is a first-generation born Black American whose poetry touches on the diaspora, sexual advocacy, mental health, and the female experience. Amuche considers her poems to be still life paintings of intimate experiences, emotions and observations. Her debut collection of poetry, Salt Water Roots, was published October 2024 in collaboration with the DC Poet Project and Day Eight Publishing. Through her writing she aspires to heal, grow and inspire people from all different walks of life.
