A trauma informed breathwork and sound journey with opportunity to surrender into self.
About this Event

Conscious Connected Breathwork is a powerful tool to help us connect deeply with the body. It bridges the gap between our conscious mind and subconscious mind and our body, in other words, we let go of the mind and explore deeper into our body. As we start to connect deeper in the body, tensions may start to reveal themselves.
The tensions we store in our bodies due to the ego defences we put in place to feel safe in our
infancy, can stop us from interacting with others and our environment from the place of our true authentic selves, from our hearts. This work is focused on releasing these tensions from our bodies, freeing up energy, allowing us to perceive and interact with the world authentically and from our hearts. When we release tension from the body there may be an emotional response or triggers of old memories. You will be supported during this process and afterwards should you require it.
Other benefits may include:

  • Lifts your mood and lowers anxiety
  • Brings emotional clarity and calmness
  • Boosts energy and stamina
  • Strengthens immune system
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Increases spiritual awareness
  • Releases tension and expression in a safe environment
  • Anchors joy and positive feelings in the body

The breathwork is not suitable for people under the age of 16, with epilepsy, chronic heart conditions, chronic asthma and anyone pregnant in their first trimester and some mental health imbalances including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder. (If you require more clarification please get in contact).

Sound Journey

Sound healing therapy helps to re-establishing correct functioning of the Endocrine system (the glands) which releases powerful healing hormones such as endorphins, serotonin and melatonin into the body. Other natural chemicals are also released, such as nitric oxide,
vital for the body’s health and vitality. The vibrations from the instruments work on the vagus nerve which is connected to the middle ear and flows down to all of our major organs, it is the conductor of our parasympathetic nervous system. When this part of our nervous system is
activated is when we feel relaxed and the body restores itself. As well as physical benefits, sound can help us emotionally and energetically.

What to Expect:

During this 3 hour workshop participants will be working with the Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System (BBTRS) a trauma informed breathwork approach utilising 6 main elements of breath, sound, touch, movement, emotions and meditation. We will begin by dropping into the space, feeling into our intentions for the session, then moving into a flow of movement to really drop into the body. After a short break we will commence the breathwork journey which will go for around 60mins. Next, we will move into the integration and sound
journey which will help to restore harmony and balance to the body’s biological rhythms and processes as well as inviting deep relaxation and the space to integrate the breath session. We will finish with sharing and some grounding snacks.

IMPORTANT: Please bring a journal + pen, cushion, water bottle and wear comfortable, warm clothes. Please refrain from eating anything heavy within an hour or two prior to the session. An eye mask can also be helpful to go deeper (optional).

Contraindications:

There are some contraindications to participating in this work. The breathwork is not suitable for people under the age of 16, with epilepsy, chronic heart conditions, chronic asthma and anyone pregnant in their first trimester and some mental health imbalances including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder.

Please also note that there can be times of emotional release which may come through loud sounds, tears, loud laughter, so if you feel this may impact you throughout the workshop then
a private session may be more suited to your needs at this time. (feel free to be in touch to discuss). It is highly recommended to keep the remainder of the evening free from too much stimulating activity or commitments.

Having spent extended time in South America, China, India and other countries. Mike immersed himself in the practices of Tai Chi/Qigong, various schools of Yoga. Studied various eastern philosophies and trained in several healing modalities such as Reiki, Sound healing, breathwork and Myofascial Energetic Release. Mike’s training and experience allows him to hold a safe, trauma informed container to allow people to move through their processes while feeling safe and held.

El - _eluminate

El has been traversing the depths of her own heart, body and mind ever since she
reached a point where she had enough, enough of the emotional outbursts, uncontrollable anger & frustration, nervous breakdowns, numbing of any hard emotions through substances, always doing something, working ridiculous hours, feeling like there was more to life than what she was experiencing. It really started when she broke her wrist and was forced to sit still and heal. During this time, she worked through childhood trauma that had been deeply repressed.
Shedding layers of old patterns, belief systems, fear, anger, grief and sadness. Breathwork and other healing modalities, particularly sitting in ceremony, has profoundly changed her life and most importantly her health.

After navigating many different paths of healing, El found the medicine of breathwork which led her to finding her calling to provide spaces for people to heal through the power of the breath. El is an experienced breathwork facilitator sharing this profound modality with others to help them navigate and heal themselves so they can gain clarity on living their truest potential. El’s depth and experience with the medicine of the breath has given her the capacity that allows people to drop into the deeper places where they can meet the parts of themselves that are ready to transform and heal. She holds space in a safe, compassionate and intuitive way using a combination of 6 elements; breath, movement, touch, sound, emotions and meditation tools to aid in releasing physical blockages in the body and much more.

So you can fully settle into the practice, we suggest you avoid the need to move your car or risk a fine and park at the CARe multilevel carpark (8-14 King Street Prahran), a 140-metre walk from COY. 3 hours parking will be charged at $6.90.

Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).

Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.

Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point.
