About this Event
Calling all yogi surfers, wannabe surfers and never-surfed surfers, this is your chance to join a special surf themed yoga class. For one hour, your mats will be your surfboards and the Elevate floor will be the Californian ocean.
Facilitated by Stephen Lightbown – yoga teacher and disabled surfer. Stephen is a wheelchair user who teaches from his chair. He teaches yoga to help you discover new things about your body and reconnect with other parts you may have forgotten. So, if you decide to practice yoga with Stephen, he’ll guide you through a calming practice which works for you, while leaving you empowered by what your body is capable of.
Whatever your body type; whether you want to practice with all or part of your body; standing, seated or lying down, this 60 minute class is for you. Adaptations will be offered for however you want to practice.
This class will invite you to uncover new dimensions within your own body and rediscover forgotten sensations all whilst finding that inner surfer stoke. Stephen ensures a welcoming environment where you'll feel right at home (on the ocean).
This class will be on a donation basis and all proceeds will go towards helping Stephen represent England for the second time at the ISA Para World Surf Championships at Huntington Beach, California in November. Following the yoga practice, everyone is welcome to stay for an informal coffee, chat and to talk more with Stephen about accessible yoga and para surfing.
