About this Event
All around the world people are leaving their homes to flee from conflict and oppression, most notably in recent times from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. The UK has a traditionally been seen as a place of safety, offering sanctuary to refugees and asylum seekers and it is expected that the numbers arriving will steadily increase in the months to come.
Public services, supported by the third sector, are responsible for not only providing the basic needs for these people, such as housing, benefits, education, health and wellbeing etc, but also offer the specialist support unique to migrant’s circumstances.
The ‘Supporting Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ conference will guide delegates through the intricacies of accepting displaced people into the UK and highlight the practical and emotional assistance they require as they come to terms with their resettlement status.
The conference agenda will provide guidance and information as to how to deliver the immediate and long-term needs for people arriving in the UK, offering examples of best practice which are proving to be making a difference.
