Breakfast event to discuss how thermal energy storage can reliably and affordably meet continuous demand without overburdening the grid.
About this Event

As utilities contend with constrained grid capacity and rapidly growing demand, thermal energy storage (TES) offers a reliable and affordable way to meet industrial energy demand without overburdening the grid.

Thermal energy storage uses electricity to generate and store heat for long durations, delivering that heat on demand or around-the-clock for industrial operations. By charging flexibly and delivering heat when it’s needed, TES maximizes utilization of existing grid assets while strengthening system reliability

Join us to discuss:

  • An overview of thermal energy storage and an update on project implementation
  • How utilities and PUCs can benefit from TES and encourage its adoption by implementing smart tariff structures
  • How thermal energy storage could be classified to access wholesale energy markets to reduce utility burden, increase affordability for industry, and address interconnection challenges.
  • Best practices for interconnection policies

Our panelists will include:

  • Erik M. Helland, Iowa Public Utilities Commissioner
  • Anna Siefken, Director for Policy and Markets, Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Council
  • Isaac Brown, Executive Director, Thermal Battery Alliance
  • Noah Long, Director of State and Regulatory Affairs, Antora Energy
