NOTE: This is a 2-day event; attendees must attend both Monday, September 30th and Tuesday, October 1st to receive credit
This continuing education offering will provide an opportunity for individuals trained as Peer Recovery Specialists to expand their knowledge and skills in offering evidence-based support to families and children impacted by SUD.
Substance use disorder often has a profoundly negative impact on families, especially children. Yet, resources and support for are limited and fragmented. Peer recovery specialists, often interact with families as well and may serve as an untapped resource for families.
Using current evidence, participants in this course will:
- Explore strategies to provide support and facilitate positive coping for families impacted by SUD
- Discuss ways to help families to support children impacted by parental SUD
- Describe approaches families may use to help the family member with SUD, and,
- Assist families in the navigation of resources.
This course is being provided as a 2-day continuing education offering on Monday, September 30th and Tuesday, October 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., located at Doc's Recovery House at 1821 Restoration Rd SW, Rochester, MN 55902.
