Join us for an engaging, in-person continuing education seminar designed specifically for social work supervisors seeking to enhance their skills and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. In "The Good, The Bad, and The Compliant," we'll delve into the intricacies of social work supervision. We will explore essential strategies and ethical considerations inherent in the supervisory role, while also giving you the confidence to provide social work supervision that is in compliance with the COMAR regulations. Whether you're a seasoned supervisor or new to the role, don't miss this opportunity to elevate your knowledge and skills as a social work supervisor.

This course earns a total of 6.5 CEs, including 3 CEs in ethics and 3.5 CEs in supervision. This class complies with the requirements of COMAR10.42.06.03 Supervision and Ethics Training. This course is intended for new and seasoned Social Work Supervisors.

Check-in begins at 8:00 am, with the course starting at 8:30am. Coffee, tea, and lunch will be included; please let us know upon registering if you have dietary restrictions. Seating is limited to 44 attendees!

Learning Objectives:

  • Accurately interpret and implement the COMAR regulations relevant to social work supervision practice.
  • Develop and implement effective supervision strategies for social workers aiming to attain LCSW-C and independent LMSW credentials.
  • Acquire and apply best practices for ensuring and assessing supervisee readiness for professional milestones and the completion of licensure or certification requirements.
  • Identify the ethical challenges inherent in clinical supervision and devise strategic approaches to address and mitigate these challenges

Course completion & CE info

To earn CE credit, social workers must attend the entire course and complete a course evaluation. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion.

For Maryland Social Workers: Garnering Change Psychotherapy is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education learning activities and maintains full responsibility for this program. This training qualifies for Category I continuing education units. Social workers licensed in Maryland completing this course will receive 6.5 Category I continuing education credits.

Garnering Change Psychotherapy has applied to the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program for consideration as a continuing education organizational provider.

Presenter Info:

Heather Garner, LCSW-C, CST, is the founder of Garnering Change Psyhotherapy and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. In addition to her teaching role, Heather is recognized as a Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners and Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists approved clinical supervisor. She is uniquely specialized in providing mandated supervision for social workers who have faced reprimands from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, guiding them back to compliance and professional excellence.
With a commitment to fostering a rich learning environment, Heather is passionate about supporting those seeking advanced licensure through clinical supervision that is both insightful and transformative. CANCELLATION POLICIES:
WHAT HAPPENS IF I’VE PAID FOR A WORKSHOP AND THEN CANNOT ATTEND?

Although we do not offer refunds, if you miss a workshop you’ve paid for, you can use your payment towards any future training provided by Heather M. Garner, LCSW-C. Contact our office before or after the missed class, so we are aware that you will be registering for a future workshop. Alternatively, if you would like to gift your registration to another participant, please contact our Continuing Education Director no later than 36-hours prior to the scheduled event.


WHAT HAPPENS IF A WORKSHOP IS CANCELLED?

Although it is not a common occurrence, a workshop may be canceled due to low registration, presenter emergency, or inclement weather. In those cases, participants will be notified as soon as possible - typically one week before the scheduled workshop - and if they have paid for the training, they will be given the option of either a full refund or applying the payment to another workshop. All participants will also receive a $25.00 discount off a future training to compensate for the inconvenience.
