About this Event

SHHHHH! Don't tell anyone. Isaac Alderson (Come From Away), Liz Hanley (Green Fields of America), Dave McKindley-Ward (Irish Rambling House) will be in Cleveland for a sneaky performance held in the pipe-making workshop of Brian Bigley at the historic Templar Automobile Manufacturing building - also known as the Screw Factory - in Lakewood. It will be an evening of fantastic music in an old industrial setting.

Liz Hanley is a Brooklyn based singer and fiddle player across many genres. Growing up in Boston, Hanley learned traditional fiddle tunes from her father/fiddle player Andy Hanley, songs and stories from her grandparents Martin Hanley, Rita McNamara and Ray Nagy and family friends Brian and Lindsay O’Donovan. She studied at the New England Conservatory Preparatory school with Blanka Bednarz and Eric Rosenblith. Hanley graduated with a BM in classical violin performance from NYU where she studied with Arturo Delmoni and Dr. Mick Moloney. Hanley continued on to perform, tour and record with Moloney in The Green Fields of America, prog folk rock ensemble Frogbelly and Symphony and chamber rock band Emanuel and the Fear in addition to collaborations with Jefferson Hamer, Eamon O’Leary, The Murphy Beds, Brenda Castles, David McKindley Ward and many more. Hanley’s debut album “The Ecstasy of St Cecilia” was hailed “a gentle work of beauty” by FolkWorld. Her sophomore album will be arriving in 2024. Both records feature long time collaborators and friends Jefferson Hamer and Eamon O’Leary of the Murphy Beds.Musician and singer, David McKindley-Ward, grew up in the DC area steeped in folk, traditional music, and protest music from all over the world. From his solid folk foundation of Pete Segeer and Stan Rogers, he found a love for Irish music from cassette tape recordings of the old folk revival balladeers from the 50s and 60s; the Clancy brothers and Tommy Makem, the Dubliners, The Wolftones, and many more. His interest in traditional singing grew when exposed to such greats as Paul Brady, Dolores Keane, and Donal Maguire, and much of his style and repertoire is based on these three. David has collaborated with Irish singers and instrumentalists Billy McComiskey, Eimear Arkins, Liz Hanley, and with Joey Abarta and Brenda Castles as The Sheep Stealers. He has recorded three albums with singer-songwriter Letitia VanSant, their latest release due this fall. Over the last few years, he has made a name for himself as a touring artist across the US, Ireland and the UK and a regular performer and instructor at festivals including Catskills Irish Arts Week, Baltimore TradFest and The Philadelphia Céilí Group. He recently moved to the Boston area and has found a musical home amongst the fine traditional Irish musicians based there.
Isaac Alderson began playing Irish traditional music as a teenager in Chicago and moved to New York City in 2001, where he has spent years learning from and playing with countless great musicians in the genre. In 2002, at the age of 19, Isaac won the senior All-Ireland championship titles on Irish flute, whistle and uilleann pipes. He has toured and recorded as a member of several well-known bands and ensembles including Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul, Comas, Ensemble Galilei, and Runa, among others, and is a founding member of critically acclaimed band, The Yanks. Isaac has worked on two Broadway musicals to date, namely Sting's The Last Ship, and Come From Away, which he performed both on Broadway and on tour as the full-time chair holder for the entire life of the show's first North American touring production. In 2014-2015 he played in the iconic show Riverdance on its 20th anniversary three-month tour of China. He has also performed across the United States and in Canada, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Colombia. As a teacher, he has led workshops at numerous festivals and gatherings including Catskills Irish Arts Week, the Northeast Tionol, the St. Louis Tionol, Common Ground on the Hill, the DC area's MAD Week, the Corofin Trad Fest, the Portal Irish Music Week, and others. Though he has traveled extensively for many years, Isaac has been proudly based in the Bronx since 2005.
