The Frankfort Public Library (FCPL), in partnership with the United Way Family Literacy Program, is excited to announce the launch of Super Readers, a new targeted reading remediation program designed to help third-grade students prepare for the upcoming Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination (IREAD) standardized reading test. This free program will be held on Wednesday evenings, Jan. 21–Feb. 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in FCPL’s Lower Level Meeting Room. Space is limited, and registration is required to participate. We will keep a waitlist of interested parties if registration fills and notify you if room becomes available.
The Super Readers initiative is built upon a collaborative curriculum developed by teachers, librarians, and educational experts. The goal is to provide focused, high-impact support outside a classroom setting; ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed. Dedicated FCPL librarians and highly qualified teachers and volunteers staff the program.
Each one-hour session is structured around an effective four-station rotation. Students spend 15 minutes at each station focusing on a different element of the IREAD test. To encourage participation and good performance, students are rewarded with small prizes for their engagement and progress throughout the sessions.
FCPL is actively seeking qualified volunteers, particularly retired teachers and educators, who wish to contribute their expertise to this vital community program. Those interested may apply at myfcpl.org/volunteer.
