“METAMORPHOSIS” - Artist Talk & Book Launch

One Art Space is pleased to present Sunhe Hong’s solo exhibition, “Metamorphosis”, A Divine Feminine Path, 2007 to the present. The exhibition features her body of work from the year 2007 to the present, and the show will be centered on Sunhe’s intimate paintings and drawings. The collection consists of four themes; The Enigmatic Void (2007-2008), which showcases isolation through monochromatic drawings, Sensuous Nature (2012-2016), which captures the life cycles of inner growth and discovery, Divine Femininity (2012-2018), which celebrates the complexities of being female. Metaphysical Encounter (2018-Present) bridging a ten-year gap during an emotionally charged, self-guided immersion into the subconscious. She uses the metamorphosis of the butterfly to float through the collection with an abundant and dreamy trance as we land from one richly textured and energetic piece to the next. Like a caterpillar’s transition from a chrysalis into a butterfly, this collection showcased the narrative of one emerging from isolation within a perpetually changing body.

The event will include limited edition compendiums Sunhe’s body of work over the last decade for sale, as well as viewbooks of the pieces on display at One Art Space. The launch of her first edition book will be available exclusively at One Art Space and will be available for purchase on www.oneartspace.com/shop/

Sunhe Hong is a Korean-born contemporary artist based in New York City. After moving to United States, Sunhe earned her BFA in Fine Arts from Youngstown State University in Ohio. After graduation, she moved to New York City, worked as a fashion designer for five years and received an AAS degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She continued her studies at the Art Students League in New York City.The Gallery will require free, limited timed passes for entry into One Art Space.

• Passes will indicate a three-hour entry window between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (The Gallery will be open from 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.) While we will do our best to honor the scheduled time on your pass, entry into the Gallery will be subject to building capacity and safety.

• Please arrive within the two-hour window listed on your pass.

• Please have your pass available (on your phone or printed) for entry.

• A limited of 90 passes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for the two-hour window between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

• We're limiting passes to ensure that there is adequate space for staff and visitors to maintain physical distancing in the gallery with occupancy limitations in mind.

• The Artist Talk & Book Launch of SunHe Hong “METAMORPHOSIS”, A Divine Feminine Path will be open from 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

• New York City requires you to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter One Art Space. Those 12 years of age and older must show proof of COVID -19 Vaccination for entry.

• Masks are required for entry. All visitors must wear face coverings.

• Restrooms will not be open to the public and we ask that you plan your visit with this in mind.

• At all-time on the premise-please follows and respect the 6 feet social distancing guidelines.

• By entering One Art Space, you are confirming on wellness health checks that you’re currently not sick and have not recently in the last 14 days been in contact with someone who is currently ill with COVID-19.
