About this Event
Seminar 3- The Banker, the Teacher and the Revolutionary
“Everyone has it wrong but me!” In this episode we consider the origin and creation of the first Wearmouth Bridge and examine the controversy about the designer. We will also discuss the significance of the bridging of the Wear and the impact it had on the town.
Local historian Stuart Miller examines six aspects of the development of modern Sunderland from the 1780s to the 1880s.
Each session will last for two hours including a break of 30 minutes to sample the coffee and cake of the Seventeen Nineteen coffee corner.
No prior knowledge is required. Simply an interest in the history of Sunderland, and a sense of humour!
