Abstract Art
In this 6 week course we’ll be exploring abstract art! This is a course for 7 to 11 year olds.
Each session is from 10.30am to 11.30am on Sunday Mornings:

We’ll be building/sculpting and creating beautiful masterpieces that are inspired by the world
but not a copy of it! Abstract art is all about expression!
We’ll be working in 3D and 2D formats including - collage - 3D sculpture sculpture with clay
and creating some really cool art work. Children will work on their application of colour,
pattern and form. While we will also be encouraging children to express their thoughts and
feelings through art. Using it to express themselves.
We’ll also be looking at two artists Joan Mitchell and Wassilly Kandinsky. We’ll be sharing
our thoughts on what their work looks like and how it makes us feel. These Artists are
considered pioneers in abstract art and both have distinctive styles our young artists will
learn about their work while also creating their own inspired by these artists.
What to wear: Please bring children in clothes you are ok them getting paint, clay, glue etc

Arts Award:
Arts Award
You can enter your child into Discover Arts Award - they must complete 12 lessons (two half
Terms) with us to get their Discover Arts Award that’s two terms and you only need to pay
the £5 additional fee once.
Once children have completed Discover they can go on to complete Explore which requires
an additional 24 lessons and a little work at home. Explore Arts Award is externally
moderated. Children will have an Arts Log. Please let us know if you are considering this and
we can discuss it with you before signing up.

£45 - standard ticket (£7.50 a class - block booking only = £45)
Add ons:
- £5 extra for Discover Arts Award Level (Note two terms worth of classes are needed for the child to pass the Arts Award - so you may wish to pay for the arts award at the beginning of the second term.)
- £21.75 for Explore Arts Award - covers cost of moderation, certificates and arts log.

Work towards your Discover or Explore Arts Award - this course counts as 6 hours towards your arts award and if you sign up each term you’ll soon receive your Discover Arts award and then your Explore Arts award, for a small additional fee.

What is Arts Award?
Arts Award is a programme for young people aged 6 - 25 years old. It's a way to get qualifications in the arts. Each level of arts award can be achieved by attending arts events run by a trained arts award supervisor - schools may deliver arts awards.

Above are the different levels of arts award. Each one follows on from the previous level. Gold actually count toward UCAS points and takes a year to achieve. Discover is the first Arts Award level for younger children.
Our Art Class is delivering Discover Arts Award - this means the hours that the children put in count towards their first Arts Award qualification. However - children need to have completed a whole terms worth of lessons (at least 12) for us to pass them for their Arts Award - so you may not want to buy the certificate - arts award pass - (which is £5 more) until the children have completed at least one-half term of the club.
Once children have got their Discover Arts Award we then will start working towards their Explore level which will take at least four half terms worth of classes to complete and some additional work at home.
