Join us for two Sunday mornings (August 24th and 31st) to learn the Big Apple Contest! In these two x 2-hr workshops, we'll get you through the full SOLO JAZZ routine, just in time for Boogie Down South so you can join in on all the chaos. Two hrs each will give us enough time to dive into the moves at a reasonable pace.
The Big Apple is a medium difficulty solo jazz routine, originally choreographed by legendary Lindy Hopper, Frankie Manning in the late 1930s. Originally part of a larger dance craze at the time (also called The Big Apple) where dance moves were called by a leader and danced in a circle, the Big Apple Contest is now recognised as one of the main solo jazz routines and a must for every Lindy Hopper's repertoire. Around the world, as soon as the "Big Apple Contest" begins to play, dancers rush to the floor for the routine.
It's high energy, a little chaotic, and super fun.
