Do you run enjoy hiking? Come run along the river on dirt trails! Trail running is like hiking, but at speed. Generally runs are slower than road runs, but far less impact on your legs and joints due to the usually softer dirt surface. And you donโt have to run the entire time, stop or walk when needed. Or just come to hike at your own pace. When trail running you may encounter uneven surfaces, rocks, roots, grass, weeds, along with varying degrees of incline and decline, which work your feet and legs far more than flat roads. Itโs a great supplement to road runs! And being in nature is always amazing!
This first trail run will be a short 3 miles (with option to add more for those who wish to) along fairly flat dirt surfaces, so no very knobby nor extra grippy shoes is required. Regular worn out shoes, but still with decent tread will work just fine. This route also allows for optional short sections of downhill and uphill hikes/sprints to be added, in case youโd like to work those leg angles and muscles some more.
Future trail runs may take place elsewhere locally, such as the American River, Auburn, The Cosumnes River Preserve, or even The Sierras if a day trip is desired!
Meet at 9:00 am in the parking lot of Broderick Boat Ramp on the West Sac side, which is across the river from Old Sac. Hope to see you there!
