Leora Cohen
British-American violinist Leora Cohen has been described as “a brilliant player” (Suzi Klein), with a “natural feel for melody” (Nicola Benedetti), and “the sound of heavenly beauty” (Maxim Vengerov). Following her double-first degree from the University of Cambridge and postgraduate diplomas from the Royal College of Music, she now enjoys a diverse career performing as a recitalist, soloist and ensemble musician around the world. Leora is regarded as a prominent concertmaster of her generation; she is a former leader of the National Youth Orchestra, the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra and Cambridge University Orchestra.
Having led concerts in major concert halls globally, and concert series such as the BBC Proms, she now plays alongside professional orchestras on top of her many solo engagements. Leora toured internationally with the LGT Young Soloists during her studies and currently appears as a regular soloist with the Piccadilly Sinfonietta and the Albion Chamber Orchestra.
Paul Wingfield
Paul Wingfield attended Chetham’s School of Music, where he studied the oboe with Sonia Wrangham and Evelyn Barbirolli, the piano with Gordon Fergus-Thompson and Charles Hopkins, and composition with Gordon Crosse and Peter Maxwell Davies. After an active performing career at school and as an undergraduate, he had until recently given only occasional concerts whilst he pursued a career as an academic specialising in Czech music, particularly that of Janáček and Martinů, as well as in musical analytical theory. Paul's current posts at Trinity College, Cambridge, include Director of Studies in Music and Secretary to the College Council.
