N.S. Xavier, M.D. will be presenting the main ideas in his new book Conscience, Spirituality and Religion. Conscience uses reason, the Golden Rule, and moderation to judge what is right. Conscience developed in the human race during the ''Axial Age." Religion with conscience is constructive; religion without conscience is more or less destructive.
Bio for N.S. Xavier, M.D.:
I grew up in India and did my Bachelors degree and medical school there. Then, I had psychiatric training at the University of Virginia and I practiced psychiatry in Birmingham for 41 years until retirement in 2020.The recently published Conscience, Spirituality, and Religion is my fourth book on religion and mental health issues. It promotes conscience, our best inner guide, and explains ways to evade extremisms and problems of irrational gratifications like addictions. Conscience promotes the good fruit of the spirit including love, joy, peace, etc. It has endorsements from Fr. Richard Rohr and Rabbi Rami Shapiro and many other scholars. My previous book on conscience and human needs had endorsements from Deepak Chopra, Nobel Peace Laureate Oscar Arias and blessing from Pope Francis.
