In a bleak future where artificial beings are created to serve humans for a limited time, a police operative becomes emotionally attached to a companion android whose programmed lifespan is nearing its end. As her shutdown approaches, his professional duties collide with his personal fixation, leading him to pursue increasingly desperate measures within a system that treats artificial life as disposable property.
