About this Event
Calling gardeners of all experience levels, from the ‘greenfingered’ to the simply ‘green.’ With the days being longer, and the sun coming out (fingers crossed!), it’s the best season to come together and create the Sunday Mills community garden on the 1st floor terrace.
Led by urban greening specialists Urban Growth, this 2-hour session will introduce you to concepts, and the ‘how to’s’ of creating and maintaining your own garden space. You’ll work together with your neighbours to W**d, and set the planters, before planting a mixture of herb seedlings, vegetable and flower seeds as we create a garden to help make Sunday Mills a greener, healthier and more sustainable home.
This session is perfect for those looking to make a positive contribution to their community and home – whatever their gardening experience – whilst also connecting with others in a mindful, group-oriented activity.
The Gardening Club is designed in-line with Urban Growth’s ethos, and seeks to:
• Place community at the centre of the greening process and encourage collaborative participation.
• Promote the healing power of nature to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
• Create inclusive and accessible green spaces for the community.
• Embed sustainability into all elements – working with local suppliers, avoid using plastic, cement and peat alongside fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides.
