Up on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, this area always boasts spectacular views of the coast. It’s a dynamic place to paint if the winds are right. And if the winds are not good, and pilots aren’t running off the cliff, it’s peaceful and still always a beautiful place to paint. There are also walking trails along the coast.
This is one of my favorite locations to sketch. I promised the owner that we would not sit on the deck or at the venue’s picnic tables unless you are buying their food or beverages to eat or drink there. (The food is tasty and quite good value).
We can easily stay out of the way of the pilots, as their area is roped off. There is plenty of space to spread out. We most likely will have the throw-down to the left (as you face the ocean) of the building, as the pilots run off the cliffs at the front and right of the building. Please bring your own chair.
There are portable toilets on site, but I recommend not drinking coffee that morning if you can avoid them. Bring hand sanitizer just in case, as there is not always a handwashing station set up.
Also be forewarned that the dirt parking lot is not level. I have driven my car there many a time with no problem but take care as you drive through. There is also a satellite lot to the north of the main one. Two handicap spaces next to the building.
