It's the kickoff to regular Sunday jazz jams at SpeakEZ Lounge, 600 Monroe Ave. NW in Grand Rapids, hosted by Tommy Pancy of Candid Antics.The evenings begin with a 45-minute set from the house band, with a signup sheet on hand that will put interested musicians in a queue for performing. Jams are open to all skill levels; jazz standards will be the norm.
To avoid conflicts with Detroit Lions games, the Sunday jams will take place on Sept. 14, Sept. 21, Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 23, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 28, with Evidence Jazz playing a special jazz show on Sunday, Oct. 19.
A $5 surcharge will be added to patrons' bill to help pay the house band.
