Dharma Gatherings are community events offering a space for both newcomers and experienced practitioners to connect and learn. These gatherings feature meditation instruction and practice, a short talk by guest teachers and open discussion followed by refreshments and socializing. This Sunday’s topic is “Politics and the Path” with Rachel Faro:
It’s often thought that the life of a meditator, a practitioner, is noncommittal, serene, not involved with or above the problems of the world. And yet, it’s hard to ignore the suffering and confusion we see everywhere, especially these days when society seems so polarized.
One of the most fundamental aspects of Buddhism and Shambhala is compassion, kindness and a sense of the basic goodness of all sentient beings. But how do we bring that compassion into action, how can we find common ground and how can we make a difference without falling into aggression or hopelessness?
Registration is suggested but not required -- just come by. All are welcome!
