About this Event
This family-friendly event is organised by Navan Cycling Initiative as part of National Bike Week.
Who can Participate?
The event is open to anyone who can ride a bike.
For the safety and health of everyone involved, we have some rules:
We encourage participants to wear a helmet
• Under18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
• Younger children may participate as passengers on parent/guardian’s bike
• All bikes must be roadworthy. Check brakes, tyres etc. before setting out. How to check bike
• Follow instructions of Marshals & Gardaí
O n the public road
- W e will cycle as a tight group - maximum 2 abreast
- Obey the Rules of the Road
- Follow the instructions of Marshals & Gardaí - especially at the two road crossings Gibstown & Wilkinstown
O n the Greenway
- Be Courteous, Share the Trail & Keep Left
- Pedestrians Have the Right of Way
- Communicate Before Passing
- Pass on the Right
We'll start at Blackwater Park, and head along the Greenway to the Greenway Hub at Wilkinstown for a picnic.
Doughty's Park Beo Greenway Hub has picnic tables and toilets, and is directly connected to the Greenway, making it an ideal pit-stop!
Free parking and toilets are available at Blackwater park.
We'll be taking it slow and steady, so the event is suitable for riders of all abilities. The total distance out and back is around 15 kilometres and is very flat. There is a road crossing at Gibstown roughly half way to Wilkinstown.
There will be no formal first-aid or Garda support.
You can bring your picnic with you, or buy something at the Greenway Hub. Refreshments will be provided for children.
