Sunday, February 8th at 10:30 am, Rev. Barbara Williams joins us as our guest speaker with a lesson on "Embracing our Imperfection." Christine Mariani elevates this service with her angelic voice and curated musical compilations. All are welcome at our uplifting service!When we focus on being perfect, we are focusing on being approved of and accepted. In other words, we are "other-focused"... What will they think of me? Healthy striving is "self-focused"... How can I live in such a way to be true to myself and be a blessing to others?
Brene Brown, in her book The Gifts of Imperfection shares, "When we can let go of what other people think and own our story, we gain access to our worthiness—the feeling that we are enough just as we are and that we are worthy of love and belonging. When we spend a lifetime trying to distance ourselves from the parts of our lives that don’t fit with who we think we’re supposed to be, we stand outside of our story and hustle for our worthiness by constantly performing, perfecting, pleasing, and proving… It is in the process of embracing our imperfections that we find our truest gifts: courage, compassion, and connection."

About Rev. Barbara Williams:
Rev. Barbara Williams has coordinated Unity’s summer program at Chautauqua Institution since 2018. She retired as the senior minister of Unity of Port Richey, Florida in 2016. She also served as Director of Adult Education and Director of Youth and Family Ministry for First Unity Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. Prior to her ministry career, Barbara spent twenty-one years in the corporate world where she held positions of leadership in the Information Technology department of Duke Power.
Barbara has presented classes and workshops on Bible history and interpretation, compassionate communication and conflict resolution skills, self-discovery, world religions and parenting skills. Her passion is to support and empower others as they uncover their divine essence. Barbara is a majorette in the Second Time Arounders adult marching band, performing locally as well as in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and St. Patrick's Day parade in Ireland. She lives in Clearwater with her husband Dusty and their rescue puppy Sandra Dee.
