September 21st is the International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day, first established in 1981 and first observed in September 1982. It seemed like a good day to come together and practice these dances. The lack of peace in the world weighs heavy on our hearts, but experiencing unity in community is an antidote to despair. We hold hands in a circle, and do simple dances while singing phrases and mantras from various wisdom traditions, with musicians in the center. Everything is taught, so no experience is needed. All ages, genders, and ethnicities are welcome.
