Zotan Kalman was born in Hungary. He received his training at the prestigious Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Clarinet Performance and Chamber Music in Budapest. From 1983-1989, he served as principal clarinet with the Hungarian Opera House in Budapest. Zoltan is currently the principal clarinettist with both Niagara Symphony and Burlington Symphony Orchestra, and appears regularly with the Brantford Symphony, Mississauga Opera Company, and Scarborough Symphony. In addition to his career as a musician, he has taught Clarinet Performance Studies at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario and is currently the clarinet and chamber music instructor at McMaster University in Hamilton, conductor of the University Wind Ensemble at Brock University in St. Catharines, where he teaches clarinet, saxophone and Woodwind Techniques Course.
Akiko Britz had always enjoyed playing piano, clarint, saxophone, bass guitar and drums but did not choose a career in music earlier on. She holds a MSc in Environmental Science from UBC and has no degree in music. In 2017, however, with a clear vision of becoming a performing musician, she started playing flute. While practicing daily and taking intensive private lessons, Akiko actively partook in various community bands, orchestras and events to perform. Particularly recently, she plays with Burlington Symphony Orchestra and performing for Sunday services at Church of the Ascention, Hamilton. Since 2023 She has been also keen on performing duo/trio recitals al church or small concert hall.
Gary Forbes received a MMus from University of Toronto in 2017. In addition to having worked as a piano accompanist at Mississauga Children's choir and Brock University, he has been a coach, performer, music director, and instructor at the pre- and post-secondary levels. Though he specializes in chamber music and art song, he has a broad background that includes all aspects of collaborative performance. Gary now aims to bring all his musical interests and services together through Gary Forbes Music. He is currently the director of Music at St. Cuthbertโs Anglican Church in Toronto, where he serves as church organist, pianist, conductor, and accompanist for services and sponsored concerts.
